Thought for today

Here is a little poem by one of the great English poets of yesteryear.  It is astounding how a good poet can put in a tiny capsule so much multivitamins that will stimulate the intellect, fire the imagination and energise the soul, if one can only see beyond the language shell and feel that which is the ineffable essence.  Here goes the four line stanza;

Secure will be our days and bright

And happy will our nature be

When LOVE is an unceasing light

And JOY its own security.

Comment:

Yes, the eternal Joy , not the transient pleasure, that emanates from Love for scripture says that “Love casteth out Fear.  Perfect, unconditional, all embracing Love, the kind that took Jesus to the cross  and moved one poet to express his heart in these words;

“Were the whole realm of Nature mine;

That were an offering far too small;

Love , so amazing, so Divine

Demands my soul, my life, my all.

If man can only see himself as no different from his brother who are all made in the image of Him, and share with him the bounty of what the Good Lord has provided for all his children, Fear will be eliminated.  There will be no need for him to use the precious resources of Mother Earth for making weapons of destruction to protect himself, but will fashion tools of construction for producing what is life-giving.  Leaders Beware! do not plunge into conflict which you think will protect you and your nation and eliminate fear, negotiate for peace; meet your adversary by the way and agree with him; that is the only way to protection and the elimination of fear.  Try to make your enemies your friend.  Friends do not fight one another.  Then as the poet puts it, “Joy will be its own security”.
