FLASHES OF LIGHT
A Book of Thoughts

I call these thoughts “Flashes of Light” because they come in moments of quiet contemplation. In essence, they are not new, but are reflections of universal thoughts in the mirror of my reflective mind.

This book was dedicated TO ALL THOSE FRIENDS, ASSOCIATION WITH WHOM HAS BEEN A BLESSING TO ME.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
(A Commentary by Eusi Kwayana)

Randall Butisingh, now in his nineties, has at last put down his ideas of Life and Love, culture and value of values., the concern of time and those of eternity, in the form of prose. He has published several poems, including collections of poetry. Even his prose therefore seem to flow like good verse.

Flashes of Light has what it promises: rays of hope in an atmosphere threatening to be overcast. His concerns, as he reminds us, may not be always novel. Yet the reader will find them as fresh as dew, because he expresses them with a pointed relevance to our day and time. His courage of conviction comes out when in the face of calls for higher and higher certification, he declares the test of education to be not certification but character.

Mr. Butisingh is a widower with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a lifelong teacher but also experienced the toil of manual labour. He is a Seeker after Truth and rejoices at it wherever it appears, whether in the Suras of the Qur’an, the Mantras of the Vedas or the Beatitudes of the Gospels.

His short flashes will leave a lasting impression as a small part of our present day scriptures.

Thoughts from Flashes of Light:

The family is the unit of society. If the family disintegrates, it weakens the whole fabric of society.

True beauty is the ineffable radiance of the pure in heart. It transcends barriers of ethnicity, colour and creed. Beauty is truth. It is the soul’s passport to heaven.

Isolation is imprisonment. Liberation is found in our realisation of our oneness with creation.

In the eyes of God every human being has the same intrinsic and potential value – a child of God and an inheritor of the King dom of Heaven.

Humanity is not a physical unity which could be disintegrated. It is a spiritual Oneness which ignores barriers and distinctions.

Congratulations Randall. My father lived to 95 so I know the generation you represent. Thanks for a life lived in service to humanity and as a model for future generations. My father too never lost his thirst for knowledge and was at the computer up to shortly before his death. I have leaarned that a life of striving and trying is the only life worth living. Such inspiring attitudes as yours are priceless.
