THOUGHT FOR TODAY

THE BRIDGE FROM FAITH TO FAITH

When I understand myself, and my own beliefs, then I can understand those of others.  I bow my head in reverence to God: so does the Hindu, and so does the Christian.  How can I know that they do not have a more sincere faith than I do?  It is in this spirit that we can cooperate together.

Mrs M. J. Haidar, for thirty-two years Principal

I want to be a bridge between Christianity and Islam.
There are Muslims who have betrayed the mission of Muhammad.  There are Christians who have betrayed the mission of Jesus.  Let alone those who have not betrayed either of their missions work together.

LIFE IS A PILGRIMAGE

by: Randall Butisingh

Our life is a journey, a pilgrimage. This earth is no abiding place We cannot build a permanent home upon it; all with Time will deteriorate, disintegrate and crumble in the dust - even our own bodies. Our true home is eternal, as we are spirit and not flesh and blood. So as we journey in Time, let us choose the narrow path, with its thorns, and not the wide easy path which will lead to destruction. And with each thorn-prick, let us remember the “crown of thorns” that our Lord wore at His crucifiction where He died for the sins of all mankind, and be happy that we are sharing in His suffering. No cross, no crown!

“Must Jesus bear the cross alone
And all the world go free?
No! there’s a cross for everyone,
And there’s a cross for me”.

Here is what a Hindu said of Jesus:

No one can escape suffering. Even Jesus suffered. Although He didn’t have to endure a disease, He suffered. greatly on the cross because He took on his own body the sins or karma of others.

I LOVE YA

Posted by randallbutisingh on December 18, 2007

I Love Ya!

One day a husband’s wife died, and on that clear, cold morning, in the warmth of their bedroom, the husband was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn’t anymore.  No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat, no more “just one minute.”  Sometimes, what we care about the most gets all used up and goes away, never to return before we can say good-bye, say “I love you.”

So while we have it, it’s best we love it, care for it, fix it when it’s broken and heal it when it’s sick. This is true for marriage … And old cars .. And children with bad report cards, and dogs with bad hips, and aging parents and grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it.

Some things we keep — like a best friend who moved away or a classmate we grew up with. There are just some things that make us happy, no matter what.

Life is important, like people we know who are special. And so, We keep them close!

I received this from someone who thought I was a ‘keeper’! Then I sent it to the People I think of in the same way. Now it’s your turn to send this to all those people Who are “keepers” in your life, including the person who sent it if you feel that way. Suppose one morning you never wake up, do all your friends know you love them?

I was thinking…I could die today, tomorrow or next week, and I wondered if I had any wounds needing to be healed, friendships that needed rekindling or three words needing to be said.
Let every one of your friends know you love them. Even if you think they don’t love you back, you would be amazed at what those three little words and a smile can do.

And just in case GOD calls me home .
I LOVE YA!!!
Live today to the fullest because tomorrow is not promised.

CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

Posted by randallbutisingh on December 18, 2007

MY CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

Another Christmas will soon be here, a festival celebrated by millions throughout the world. But what does Christmas celebrate?

Christmas celebrates the Birth Anniversary of a Great Soul who to the Christians is the Son of God and GOD Incarnate; to the Muslims, a Prophet of God in the line of Prophets, of whom Muhamad claimed to be the last, and to the Hindus, an Incarnation of God, like Rama, Krishna and currently Satya Sai Baba, Many believed he spent His missing years in India and Tibet, where among the yogis, he imbibed the teachings which were revealed in the Sermon on the Mount. Hindus also include Him in the pantheon of Gods and Goddesses that presided over their daily lives.

The recognition of the great religions of the world of this great teacher, prophet and yogi can be the basis on which the unity of all mankind be achieved. To the Christians, the Fatherhood of God makes the Brotherhood of man a Divine command; to the Muslims, all believers in one God are the inheritors of the Garden; and to the Hindus, God is both immanent and transcendent, not unlike the Jews in Genesis of man being made in the Image of God. Man here connotes all manlind and an indivisible humanity.

But in practice, one sees differently. One does not see Religion as a unifying force, but as something exclusive and divisive. We see division, not only in the different religions, but also inside each religion. One religion may be splintered into many sects, each claiming to have possession of the truth, and each spending time defending its position rather than propagating the fundamentals of Love, Compassion and Brotherhood, the message of the Sermon on the mount. Gandhi, a Hindhu, read this message, was inspired by it and exhorted his followers to do the same.

We say we celebrate Christmas, but do we celebrate the true spirit of the occasion? In our revelry and our excesses and our commercial exploitation, do we remember the poor, the needy, the destitute? Or do we leave that to a few charitable organisations who ask for the crumbs from our table?

What will be our gift to the man we celebrate? Whatever our beliefs, there can be no doubt that he was Love Incarnate. Did he not say if you feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, entertain the stranger, give clothing to the naked, and visit the prisoner; and as you have done to one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you have done it unto me. ( Matthew 25: 35-40). That was for all times. How much more should it be at Christmas !

HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS AND GOD BLESS YOU !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

REDEMPTION

Had it not been for the gift of Redemptive Grace after Conversion mankind would have lost all Hope of Salvation.
Conversion comes after true Repentance and the promise to lead a new life.  After Conversion, one becomes a new person; that is exactly how he is seen by God who forgives and forgets the past.  He sees you only as you are. This may happen at any time of your life, even before you die.  If at any time you yield into temptation and slip into error, that is how you will appear to Him - a transgressor.  It is easy to slide into the steep pit of transgression, but it will be laborious to climb out of it.  So watch it, take thought of the moment, for no one can predict the inevitable.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Posted by randallbutisingh on December 17, 2007

This is a Hindu yogi speaking; His book “The Autobiography of a Yogi” makes good reading.

The light of God is evenly distributed to all men, though not all reflect it equally.  Learn to see God in all persons, of whatever race or religion.  When you feel that you are part of a United World - giving Love and Service to all men as Christ did - then you will feel Cosmic Love which is God.

Small kindnesses, small courtesies, small considerations, habitually practised in our social intercourse, give a greater charm to the character than the display of great accomplishments.

THOUGHT ON EDUCATION

Posted by randallbutisingh on December 15, 2007

This Thought was taken from FLASHES OF LIGHT
by Randall Butisingh

The mistaking of means for ends, of shadow for substance, has been the bane of human endeavour and the stumbling block of real progress in Education.
What we learn is not of so much value as how we learn it.  If A gets his sums right and B does not, does not mean that A is a better worker than B.  A may be gifted in calculating, but B may have put in more effort, concentration and energy into his work.  B failed because of the limitation in his mental endowments, but character which may not be discerned, may have permeated his effort.
It is the mistaking of means for ends that makes ephemeral materialism so attractive and the permanent so unreal.

The cultivation of a right sense of values should be the important Aim of Education.
